Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Short version: Flute uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Everything we store in your browser exists to sign you in or to remember how you like the product set up. Here is the complete list.
What we store in your browser
| Name | Where | Category | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase auth cookies | Cookie | Essential | Keep you signed in. Set when you authenticate; verified on each request to protect your account. |
| flute-active-space | Cookie | Essential / functional | Remembers which Space you are working in so your renders and settings load in the right context. |
| flute-theme and UI preferences | localStorage | Functional | Your theme (light/dark/auto), language, view layout, compose options, and similar interface preferences. |
| flute-cookie-consent | localStorage | Essential | Records the cookie choices you made in the consent card so we do not ask again. Expires after six months. |
| Google sign-in | Cookie | Essential | Set by Google's sign-in library on our home page and sign-in pages so you can sign in with a Google account. It does not track you across sites. |
| Vercel infrastructure cookies | Cookie | Essential | Our hosting provider may set cookies strictly for serving and protecting the site (e.g. during deploy transitions). |
| Stripe checkout cookies | Cookie | Essential | Set by Stripe on their own checkout and billing pages to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. |
About localStorage
Some preferences live in your browser’s localStorage rather than in cookies — they are never sent to our servers with requests. These are convenience settings such as your theme and language, list-versus-grid view, compose options, “don’t ask again” choices for confirmation dialogs, and your auto-top-up preference for credits. They stay on your device and only affect how the interface behaves for you.
How to clear them
You can clear cookies and site data for Flute at any time through your browser’s settings (usually under Privacy or Site Data). Signing out removes your authentication cookies. Clearing site data also resets your saved preferences, so the interface will return to its defaults the next time you visit.
Consent
On your first visit we show a cookie card so you can choose which optional cookies we may use. Essential cookies cannot be switched off — without them you cannot sign in. Your choice is remembered for six months, and you can change it at any time from the link in the footer.
Today Flute sets only essential and functional cookies, so the optional categories change little in practice. If we add analytics or marketing cookies later, we will update this policy first and honour the choices you have already made.
